Govt order little solace: Pensioners
Srinagar: J&K Pensioners’ Welfare Association on Friday said the government order releasing 50 per cent of leave salary, gratuity and commutation to post January 1, 2006, retirees was a source of slight solace to them.
In a joint statement, the Association chief spokesman, Syed Nassar Ullah and provincial president, Muhammad Amin Raja said six year plan for release of arrears in favour of general pensioners was quite disturbing and a matter of serious concern. They urged the government to reconsider the plan and asked the pensioners to continue their struggle to achieve the objective.
“During last year’s employees general strike the leaders shamelessly surrendered before the government which provided an edge to the authorities to dictate terms as a result of which both the employees and pensioners are constantly suffering,” said the leaders, adding “some trade union leaders in India under the leadership of Sharad Rao recently called on the finance minister and pleaded the case of state pensioners.”
Meanwhile, the Association has appealed to the government to release of 10 per cent DA.
