KU to introduce on-line form submission

Srinagar, Jan 21: The Kashmir University registration section will soon introduce on-line submission of “Migration Forms”, the KU PRO Friday said.
“Under this system the students shall submit Migration Forms online at University website at www.kashmiruniversity.net giving full details of the examinations passed along with the details of the bank drafts/payment of fee deposited in bank and the request of the student shall be processed accordingly. Such students shall have to submit a print-copy of the submitted form along with the Bank Draft/Fee receipt, and supporting documents to the University and on receipt of the same, the certificate shall be dispatched to the students,” he said in a statement.
The PRO said the facility was being provided with support from Directorate of Information Technology and Support System (IT&SS) KU.
Meanwhile, the Allama Iqbal Library, KU has launched a mega project of digitization of books.
“The project shall be completed in phased manner and in first phase 8 million pages from out of copyright books scattered in various libraries of Jammu and Kashmir state will be digitized,” the PRO said.
“The valuable rare books available in private collection shall also be digitized under this project and put on internet,” he added.
“The project shall be financed by the Department of Information Technology Govt of India. Digitization of books shall enable users to browse and read them even at their residence and one copy of the book can be simultaneously browsed by multiple users.”
The project, the KU officials said, shall be a milestone in making Allama Iqbal Library as virtual library having access to its collection remotely.
The KU Librarian Riyaz Rufai and Chief Coordinator of the project said the material digitized shall form part of the “National Digital Library and shall be accessible throughout the world on their website.”
“This prestigious project shall be completed within 2 years,” Rufai said.
Pertinently, the PRO said, Allama Iqbal Library is the only ISO Certified University Library of India providing access to more than 10,000 online journals to its users.
