Steps afoot to appoint Urdu teachers in primary schools: CM
Jammu, Jan 21: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said the measures were afoot to post Urdu teachers in the primary schools and propagate the language along with Hindi and English.
Addressing a function after releasing Urdu poetic collection “Warood” by Khalid Karar, here, he said the government was endeavouring to nurture State’s official language.
He said teaching Urdu language at primary level would help in its development and universalization.
Omar said in the development of Urdu, poets and writers had contributed immensely. “This trend should continue and young poets like Khalid propagated Urdu in the State through their works of high literary tastes,” he added.
Pahari Development Board, Vice-Chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari said Poonch and Rajouri had produced writers and poets of immense fame.
MLC, Muhammad Yusuf Taing narrated the role of Urdu in binding the three regions of J&K. He said right from the days of Maharaja Gulab Singh, Urdu contributed a lot in weaving the warp and woof of amity and brotherhood between various sections of the society and the regions.
Media Consultant, Farooq Nazki highlighted the importance of Urdu in solidifying the ties between various sections of the society and the regions in the State. He said Urdu had always nurtured amity and cemented inter-society and inter-regional bonds. “The development of the language is more necessary at present to maintain and strengthen this characteristic of the State”, he said and emphasized the need for giving boost to the language.
