JKLF activists arrested
Crackdown won't deter us: Malik
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 25: Continuing its crackdown on activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front police arrested around a dozen of JKLF activists from central Kashmir’s Budgam district and other areas.
“We have taken a few of them into preventive custody to avoid law and order problems,” Senior Superintendent of police, Budgam Uttam Chand told Greater Kashmir.
In Lal Chowk, Basnat Bagh, Maisuma and adjoining areas, police conducted raids at houseboats and hotels during the intervening nights.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Peoples Conference leader Bilal Gani Lone and senior separatist leader Shahid-ul-Islam remained underground to evade arrest.
The JKLF had given Lal Chowk Chaloo call to counter the flag hoisting programme of BJP.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Tuesday said “police crackdown” cannot deter it from going ahead with its proposed march to Lal Chowk on January 26.
“Police have conducted several raids on the party’s central office at Maisuma and residences of party members including JKLF chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik since yesterday night while a curfew was imposed in Maisuma, Basant Bagh , Mandar Bagh, and adjoining area today. "But such coercive measures cannot stop us from carrying out the march to Lal Chowk tomorrow,” a JKLF spokesman quoted Malik as having said.
Reiterating the call for “peaceful march to Lal Chowk tomorrow,” the spokesman said Kashmiris would give a peaceful and democratic answer to BJP’s challenge to our collective honour.”
“BJP and other forces wishing to defeat the sentiments of Kashmiris should bear in mind that oppression has failed to change the sentiments and resolve of Kashmiris for freedom . The BJP’s anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim politics cannot change the status of huge sacrifices offered by Kashmiris for the resolution of the dispute,” the spokesman said.
