Jammu, Jan 24: Senior Congress Leader Abdul Gani Vakil on Tuesday urged all stake holders in JK to contribute positively to make the ongoing dialogue between various shades of opinion and the interlocutors a success.
“Aftermath of 5-months of law and order situation and 20 years of enemy’s attempt to keep Jammu and Kashmir politically volatile by encouraging gun culture and militancy, should serve as an eye-opener for every nationalist to work for peace cultivation in the
State”, he said adding that there is no wisdom in playing politics and games for party interest in the State at present crucial juncture when serious efforts are on to bring on board all shades of opinion through a dialogue process.
Addressing a party workers here Vakil said that Congress had always stood for the high
principles of secularism, amity and brotherhood in the country and same trait is being nurtured and propagated in the state.
The Former Minister said that the efforts of the coalition government in the State to address unemployment crisis effectively needed to be supplemented by all political parties instead of creating law and order situations telling upon badly on employment generation strategy and implementation of works programme.
Ridiculing the divisive politics propagated by BJP and other parties in the state to wedge apart the society in the name of region, religion and other grounds, he said the preachers of this kind of politics can never be termed as friends of people or the country.
“Their party interest is dearer to them than the national interest”, he said and advised them to desist from playing politics on national
issues like flag hoisting.
“Instead of joining hands with the government to blunt the anti-national forces and enemies of the country, they are creating
opportunities for anti-national forces to utilize law and order situations being created by these parties for furthering their
designs”, he said and gave a clarion call to general people and the nationalist forces to foil the designs of vested interests bent upon
to disturb the peace in the State and derail the dialogue process,” he said. “BJP is inadvertently playing in the hands of enemies of the country
and supplementing the forces inclined to keep the situation in Jammu and Kashmir boiling”, he said and asked the party to read between the
lines and behave like a responsible mainstream party.
