Islamabad (Anantnag), Jan 28: The candidates who had applied for the class-IV posts in the Animal Husbandry Department here have alleged large scale bungling in the selection process.
“Many of the selected candidates were not even short listed and some of them have been awarded more than the maximum marks in the interview,” the disgruntled aspirants who had competed for the posts told Greater Kashmir adding the jobs were advertised by the district level recruitment board.
“The department advertised 28 posts under notification No. CAHO/Estt/class IV/Rectt/2699-2702 dated 14-11-2009 and 12 more under notification No. 2 issued under NO CAHO/Estt/class IV/Rectt/1250-55 dated 5-10-2010 for the Islamabad district. The eligibility for the post was 10+2 and subsequently, the candidates were short listed according to their merit in 10th and 12th standard and their interviews conducted,” the candidates said.
They said “In the advertisement No. 1 under the open merit category R.No 1402, R.N0 363 and R.No 3408 who were not even short listed are featuring at serial numbers; 5, 11 and 17 respectively. Similarly, in the advertisement No. 2, a candidate bearing R. No 28A who also had not been short listed is featuring at serial No. 2.”
They alleged that many blue eyed candidates who could not make it into the cut off merit of 67 points had been awarded more than the maximum marks in the interview.
“In the first advertisement, R. No 2637 has 44.47 points as per his merit in 10th and 12th, but has secured 68.47 points which means, he has been awarded 24 out of 20 points in an interview. Likewise there are many other candidates in both advertisements who have been awarded more than the maximum marks in the interview,” they alleged.
“What is fishy is that the list was published in a local daily on January 24 and the selected were asked to join the office of the Chief Animal Husbandry office, Islamabad (Anantnag) the very next day,” the candidates alleged.
“I had 58.28 points before the interview and if awarded only nine points, I would have made it through. But the selection committee in order to select their favorite, awarded me only eight points,” Ahtisham Ahmad alleged.
The candidates further alleged that most of the selected were either close relatives of the officials or had paid money.
When contacted, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Islamabad, rebuffed the allegations and said, “The list is fair. We short listed the candidates twice as some of them hadn’t submitted all the relevant documents. Only those candidates are in the selection list who were short listed.”
When contacted, Sheep and Animal Husbandry Minister, Agha Ruhullah while assuring of looking into the matter said, “The matter has come to me and I have called the Chief Animal Husbandry officer, Islamabad to look into it as one of the members in the recruitment process is from Animal Husbandry department.”
