Functioning of sheep/animal husbandry Deptts reviewed

Srinagar, January 28:- Minister for sheep and Animal Husbandry, Aga Syeed Rouhullah chaired a meeting of officers of Animal and sheep Husbandry Departments and reviewed the performance of both the Department. On this occasion the heads of both the departments presented detailed report of targets and achievements through power point presentation.
 The Minister was informed that 70 to 80 per cent expenditure has been registered so far. He was also told that during the current fiscal  584 Dairy Units have been established, among which 103 units have been provided Rs 5 lakh each as financial assistance.
 It was also informed that by setting up of these units, 6 un-employed youth have been provided employment and there is a proposal of opening of 11 Veterinary Hospitals.
 The meeting was also informed that 25 high breed sheep have been distributed among the interested farmers for increasing sheep production in the valley. He was also told that Rs.60, 000 is being given as subsidy for setting up of Sheep units, an official statement said.
 Director Animal Husbandry Dr. G. R. Mir, Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Dr Farooq Ahmad Kaloo and Director Sheep Husbandry Dr. B. R. Kotwal, made presentations in that sequence. Executive Officer, Development and other senior Officers of both the departments attended the meeting.
