RTI workshop in Shopian

Srinagar, Jan 30: Continuing with its awareness campaign about Right to Information (RTI) Act in the State, the J&K RTI Movement organized a workshop on RTI Act for the district officers and the civil society at Circuit house Shopian.
The workshop was held in coordination of the district administration Shopian and Department of Information.
On the occasion, the Public Information Officer (PIO) and Assistant Commissioner (R) Shopian, B A Dar highlighted the RTI Act and urged upon the civil society to create awareness about it.
The Convener J&K RTI Movement, Dr. Muzaffar Bhat gave a detailed presentation on J&K RTI Act 2009 as well as the Central RTI Act of 2005. He urged upon the Government officers to cooperate with the people who seek information under RTI Act.
Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, a senior RTI Activist gave a historical background of the RTI Movement.
Tanveer Hussain Khan, a Human Rights activist stressed upon the civil society to play its role in RTI awareness.
