Good beginning
This refers to closure of winter schools in Kashmir. While there is no doubt that the infrastructure in our schools and particularly in Government schools is not up to the standard to make winter schooling successful, we cannot ignore the fact that it was a good beginning. The schools were running despite much criticism and warnings from the health experts whose clinics lack proper heating facility. Even after the schools have been closed, young boys and girls are defying weather conditions and go for tuitions in the morning. These places are without heating arrangements. While the Government had kept schools open for the students from 9th class onwards and since the students of these classes are grown up boys and girls, it would be far better for them to go to schools than waste their precious days sitting at home. In this competitive age, it is imperative that we get maximum school days. Normally during winter vacations we see boys play cricket during the day time and instead if they go to schools that will surely be of much help.
