End dichotomy

There seems to be a serious dichotomy between the ranks of Army. Recently an Army officer said that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act was required in Jammu and Kashmir. The very next day another Army officer said that the soldiers would continue to work for peace in the state. With AFSPA in hand, restoring peace in the state is a distant dream. Some months back, the jingoistic Indian media raise hue and cry over the revocation of the AFSPA. Some even reported that it was on cards. But months have passed; there has been no action on the initiative. It seems that the media was used that time to promote the propaganda to diffuse crisis in Kashmir. This is the way India is losing Kashmir and Kashmiris. It exposes her non-seriousness toward addressing the aspirations of the people. It is high time to amend the AFSPA if Army is really serious in restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir. It must not unnecessarily oppose the amendment.
