Govt to give stimulus to Cooperative Banks in JK

Jammu, Jan 5: Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma has said that concerted efforts are afoot to enhance the resources of the Cooperative Bank in the State.
During a press briefing in Kerala, the Minister revealed that the local reserves of the Cooperative Banks are Rs. 5891 crore and total deposits have reached Rs. 1693.29 crore while advances have been given to the tune of Rs. 604.39 crore.
The Minister, who is currently on official visit to the State, held series of meetings with Cooperative authorities and discussed several issues aimed at improving the cooperative sector in the State.
Dr. Manohar during his meet with the President and Managing Director Anand Farmer Service Cooperative Bank, A.G. Thankappan Nair, also discussed several issues relating to the Cooperative Sector.
Nair apprised Dr. Sharma about the working system of the Bank and said that this is the only scheduled Cooperative Bank in cooperative Sector in the country which has its branches in all the 14 districts of Kerala.
The Bank provides hassle free loans to the workers of the Cooperative sector viz. Rubber Cooperative, Coconut and dairy development for ensuring development of rural areas of the State.
