Revive SAC, SIC: Vakil to CM
Srinagar, Jan 6 : Senior Congress leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Abdul Gani Vakil on Thursday urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to constitute State Accountability Commission (SAC), and State Information Commission (SIC) forthwith.
“Some ministers and some bureaucrats have strengthened the nexus of corruption. These people are looting the state exchequer by resorting to unfair means,” Vakil said in a statement.
He said such acts were likely to cause irreparable damage to “clean image” of the ruling coalition especially young Chief Minister. He lambasted at the PDP for “creating hurdles” in reviving SAC and RTI commission as they know that once the SAC is revived, noose would be tightened against some of its leaders who during their tenure looted and plundered the public money. He expressed deep regret over opposition leader’s repeated refusal to attend crucial meeting for constituting SAC and SIC.
