Govt presses 34 buses into service

Overloading in Doda

Jammu: Minister for Transport and CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon on Friday said that 34 SRTC buses had been pressed into service in erstwhile Doda district to avoid overloading, which was main cause of accidents.
 Speaking at a valedictory function of Road Safety Week organized by Motor Vehicles Department in collaboration with Traffic Department here, Akhoon said the Government was taking various initiatives to minimize the accidents in the State particularly in hilly areas. He said two high tech driving institutions in Jammu and Srinagar were being established for imparting specialize training to the youth. He said RTO and ARTO offices of eight districts had been computerized.
