Jammu, Jan 7: Harzatbal shrine on the banks of Dal lake is all set to look more picturesque in the night hours as the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on Friday sanctioned Rs 4 crore illumination project.
 Omar who is also the Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Wquaf Board, asked the authorities to complete the project by June 15.
 “After taking presentation of the illumination project formulated by Bajaj Electricals keeping in view the locational and structural status of the holy shrine at a high level meeting, the Chief Minister gave nod to the project asking the Wquaf Board to move forward in this direction working out all formalities and other requirements,” an official handout said.
 “I give you six months time to complete all the structural works including repairs to the tomb and water proofing of roofs,” Omar told the Wquaf Board fixing timeline for the switching on lighting of the complex.
 The CM directed for exploring possibility of harnessing solar energy to run the project.
 “In this direction you can work out details with MNRE and utilize their assistance”, he said adding that non-conventional energy utilization for illumination of Hazratbal Shrine would be more appropriate and befitting.”
 He said that the pace on beautification programme of the surroundings of Hazratbal should also be accelerated and completed in the stipulated timeframe.
 He asked the Wquaf Board to take every measure in upgrading facilities in the shrine complex for devotees.
 Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, Davender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, BB Vyas, Vice Chairman Wquaf Board, MY Qadiri, MLC and Member Wquaf Board, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and various senior officers were present in the meeting.
 In a PowerPoint presentation the lighting concept for the shrine complex was explained in detail by the experts.
 “The lighting concept has been conceived keeping in view the peaceful, magical, reassuring, tranquil, relaxing and safe effects of lights. The illumination of dome, minar, small domes, jallies, white marble, scale, outer facades etc. has been designed in symmetry, details and depth,” said the handout.
