CIC asks PIOs, APIOs to conduct awareness camps

Kupwara, July 9: The Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), G R Sufi today convened a meeting of Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Assistant Public Information Officers (APIOs) designated by the concerned departments here, an official spokesman said.
He said the CIC interacted with them and discussed various issues under Right to Information Act.
The CIC, according to the spokesman, exhorted upon PIOs and APIOs to provide all kind of requisite information to any applicant who seeks the information under RTI Act on the submission of application after fulfilling all the formalities in this regard.
“The CIC asked the PIOs and APIOs to go through RTI Act fully which would help them in implementing the Act effectively. He also asked the concerned to conduct awareness camps in their jurisdiction so that people are made aware regarding the RTI Act and its benefits,” the spokesman added.
