Leopards take refuge in Daral-uloom
SHAHID RAFIQ
Dardesun (Kupwara), July 9: Normal life in this frontier village came to a grinding halt on Saturday when two leopards entered a Daral-uloom.
Witnesses said that residents spotted the leopards this morning. “Excited and scared villagers cordoned-off the Daruloom and tried to trap the wild animals but they attacked them,” witnesses added.
Locals informed the police and Wildlife officials. Before the officials could reach the spot one of the leopards managed to escape into the nearby forest.
“We tranquilized the animal with Catamine and zalonene injections gun, which made it unconscious and after its proper health check up Riverzene injection was injected to make it conscious. We later shifted it to Dachigam national park” said Ghulam Mohidin, an official of the Wildlife department.
