2 boys die in Tral explosion
GK NEWS NETWORK
Tral (Pulwama) July 10: Two boys died and a youth was injured when a grenade exploded here on Sunday evening, locals said.
“Adil Yusuf, 19, and Obaid Yusuf, 9, picked up a round shaped object near Mominabad Ratusna, where two militants of Hizbul-Mujahideen were killed in a gunfight with forces last month. They started fiddling with the object and it went off killing both the boys on the spot. A pedestrian Mehrajuddin also sustained injuries,” locals added.
They said blast created panic in the entire area following which huge contingents of police and army reached the spot and cordoned off the village. “It seems police and army had not sensitized the site after the gunfight,” they alleged.
Pall of gloom descended over the entire area after the incident. When contacted, the Superintendent of Police (Awantipore) Muhammad Irshad said: “Initial investigations have revealed that someone had handed over the object to the duo near an orchard and it went off near the gate of their house. We are probing the matter.”
