4 killed, 26 wounded in road accidents

Baramulla/Srinagar, July 10: Four persons were killed and 26 others injured in separate road accidents across the Valley.
Two persons were killed and another seriously wounded when a Sumo vehicle (JK05A-6609) hit a motorcycle near Farooqi point here.
The deceased motorcyclist and his pillion mate have been identified as Muhammad Shafi Waza and Ghulam Muhammad Najar, both residents of old town Baramulla. Muhammad Shafi Waza was the president of Traders Federation Old Town Baramulla and was a renowned social activist while Ghulam Muhammad Najar was an employee in the Mechanical Division Baramulla.
The critically wounded Sumo driver, Shabir Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Kabir of Kralhar Baramulla was shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, police added.
Thousands of people participated in the Nimaaz-e-Jinaaza of the deceased in Qadeem Eidgah Baramulla.
Meanwhile, Beopar Mandal Baramulla has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Muhammad Shafi Waza. Mandal president and general secretary expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, in another mishap, a Sumo (JK09-1423) fell down into a Nallah near Khumriyal Bridge Kupwara, killing Zeeba Begum wife of Abdul Ahad Najar of Darpora and Syed Shah son of Yahya Shah of Darpora Lolab, police said adding 10 passengers were also wounded in the incident who were shifted to local hospital for treatment.
Seven persons were wounded when a car (JK03B-0307) collided with a Sumo (JK02R-7582) near Buchoo Kokernag Islamabad (Anantnag), police said.
A mini bus (JK03B-3840) hit and injured a boy, Muhammad Afridi son of Muhammad Amin Yatoo of Y K Pora at Y K Pora Qazigund, police added.
A tractor driven turned turtle near Sultanpora Chandoosa, Baramulla injuring three persons including the driver, police added.
An unknown vehicle hit a motorcycle (JK13-7306) at Frestabal Pampore injuring Ishfaq Ahmad Wani of Pulwama and Nissar Ahmad Beigh of Harda Mir Awantipora.
A tempo traveller (JK02N-7139) hit a motorcycle (JK01E-2220) at Jawbara, Awantipora, injuring Gulzar Ahmad Shah of Chandhara Pampore and Aijaz Ahmad Dar of Batamaloo.
MAN ENDS LIFE
A man committed suicide allegedly by consuming some poisonous substance at his home at Jagerpora Kupwara.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Ghulam Muhammad Mir son of Ghulam Rasool. Police said the body of the deceased was handed over to family for last rites.
BODY RECOVERED
Police has recovered body of a non-local labourer from Ratnipora Pulwama on Sunday.
According to police the deceased has been identified as Dewan Deka of Assam. Police said the autopsy of the body was conducted at district hospital and investigations were on.
