CCIK seeks solution to traffic jams, congestion at Boulevard
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 10: Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kashmir (CCIK) has expressed concern over what it said the frequent traffic jams and heavy congestion at Boulevard road along the banks of world famous Dal Lake here.
President CCIK Muhammad Afzal Paray said the traffic jams caused due to heavy congestion from Dalgate to Nehru Park along the banks of Dal Lake had become a common feature.
The president said the CCIK also held an emergency meeting to discuss this issue and urge the government to take immediate steps to deal with this problem.
Paray said: “The meeting observed that instead of decongesting the area, the government was allowing exhibitions along the road, which further add to the traffic chaos.”
The members said a part of the vacant custodian land in the area which was known by the name of Tanghbagh was also allowed by the government to be used for holding some exhibitions, “while as this land could have been utilized in a better way to deal with the problem of traffic.”
