Sugar-free food stalls set up for diabetic Amarnath yatris
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Srinagar, July 10: Amarnath yatris suffering from diabetes can now eat without worrying about their ailment as special sugar-free food stalls have been set up at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps leading to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
Inspector General of CRPF (Operations) B N Ramesh convened a meeting of all those who are running community kitchens and asked them to use sugar free tablets, a CRPF spokesman said.
The other initiatives taken by the CRPF include setting up of specialised medical camps at Sangam top, Holy cave and Panjtarni.
CRPF has deployed 400 commandos from its Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) for assisting the yatris in case of an emergency or natural calamity.
These are in addition to the nearly 5,000 CRPF personnel deployed along the yatra routes for the security of the pilgrims, he added.
