Azad ensured perceptible change in JK dev: Vakil

Baramulla, July 11: Congress leader and former minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today said the Ghulam Nabi Azad during his tenure as chief minister ensured perceptible change in development of Jammu and Kashmir.
 “Azad took some revolutionary measures to bring socio-economic transformation in J&K,” Vakil said while addressing a gathering at Drusoo Rafiabad here. 
 He said that many historic decisions were taken by the Azad led government for the welfare of the people. The decisions, he said, included: implementation of Roshni Act, constitution of Round Table Conference, eight new districts, extension of Hazratbal Shrine, Tulip Garden, Yatri Niwas, Hajj House, setting up of new administrative units, enactment of law against corruption etc.
 He stressed upon Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to activate the double and triple shift working style to achieve development on all fronts in J&K.
 He lashed out at the Peoples Democratic Party for not ‘discharging its obligations’ as a responsive and responsible opposition. “Where are the hollow slogans of PDP now which they were raising during the Azad’s tenure like demand of demilitarization, Pak currency etc?”
