2 drown in Sopore, Leh
Srinagar, July 12: Two persons were drowned in separate incidents in Sopore and Leh.
According to police, Zubair Ahmad Kachroo son of Abdul Qayoom of Sangrampora was drowned in Jhelum near Sangrampora, police said adding efforts were on to retrieve the body.
In another incident, Shiv Bahadur son of Kail Bahadur of Nepal was drowned in the water canal of Stakna Hydel Project Leh while washing cloths, police said adding the body was later retrieved.
MAN KILLED, 6 INJURED IN ROAD MISHAPS
A man was killed and six others wounded in different road accidents across the Valley.
An LP passenger vehicle (JK01H-9482) hit and critically injured a cyclist, Ghulam Ahmad Khan son of Khalil Khan of Lal Bazaar, Srinagar near Islamia College Nowhatta here, police said, adding, the wounded Ghulam Ahmad was shifted to SKIMS Soura, where he breathed his last.
A Sumo (JK04-6512) hit a motorcycle (JK04B-3469) at Chadoora, Budgam injuring the rider, Noor Muhammad Sofi son of Ghulam Muhammad Sofi of Dooniwari Budgam, police said.
An L P 407 passenger vehicle (JK01H-5700) collided with a Sumo (JK01J-3975) at Theed Harwan injuring five passengers, police added.
WOMAN DIES IN BLAZE INCIDENT
A woman was killed when fire broke in her house at Kangloora Tral.
According to police, fire broke out in the house of Jagdesh Singh son of Dileep Singh causing burn injuries to him and his wife Kashmira Kour. Police said Kashmira Kour was shifted to hospital wherein she succumbed to her injuries. Another house belonging to Jarnail Singh son of Uttam Singh was also completely damaged in the incident, police added.
Fire broke out in the joint residential house of Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Majid Jahangir and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat at Khawaja Sahib Baramulla damaging it completely, police said, adding the cause of fire was being ascertained.
1 INJURED IN BEAR ATTACK
In yet another man-animal conflict, a bear attacked and injured a man at Kotipora Tangmarg in Baramulla district.
According to the police, the wounded has been identified as Abdul Rashid Malik son of Muhammad Akbar Malik of Kotipora. The injured has been shifted to SDH Tangmarg, police added.
