NPP questions NC’s homage to martyrs

Jammu, July 13: Questioning the observance of martyrs day by the National Conference led coalition government in the state, National Panthers Party chief, Prof Bhim Singh today said 21 persons were killed on July 13, 1931 during `autocratic’ Dogra ruler and asked as to how 117 innocent people were martyred during a democratic rule.
In a statement, Prof Bhim Singh said Maharaja Hari Singh brought to justice all the guilty men and punished them within 30 days. “To redress the grievances of Kashmiris, Maharaja appointed Glancy Commission and implemented its recommendation within six days”, he said.
On the other hand, he said, 117 innocent and unarmed youth and students were done to death by the NC led government, within couple of months, last year. “The democratic ruler could not bring culprits to justice nor could he appoint a micro Glancy Commission in the state to find out the grievances of the people.”
“More than 100,000 innocent people have been killed during the democratic rule and NC and Congress cannot escape from their responsibility”, he added.
