Govt pushing nation towards moral bankruptcy: Geelani
Srinagar: Concerned over the holding of “dance programmes in the name of cultural functions in educational institutions”, Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani Friday said, “ruling clique was pushing the nation towards moral bankruptcy.”
“Our centuries old moral values are in danger due to this cultural onslaught. This was being done to keep our youth away from the national and religious issues,” Geelani said in a statement.
Geelani said this was matter of concern and if the moral waywardness wasn’t curbed, then it would ruin our society.
“Our Ulemas could have played vital role in curbing the social evils, but they are not paying any attention towards this grave issue,” he said. Geelani strongly condemned the detention of two medicos of Government Medical College for “putting up posters against holding of dance programme”.
“We will not remain mute spectator on this issue and will aware nation how our youth are being pushed towards destruction,” he said, asking the youth to resist this onslaught.
