‘Mansbal to become heritage village’
Srinagar, July 16: Mansbal Lake, known for its splendor, beauty and sweet waters, has been brought on state tourism map to showcase it as window of Kashmir tourism, said Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Saturday. The Minister was addressing the concluding function of 15-day water sports training camp-cum-festival at Mansbal, an official statement said. The Minister said water and bird watching tourism would be explored fully at Mansbal Lake. He said in this regard a water sports centre and bird watching infrastructure would be set-up soon. He announced Mansbal would be developed as heritage village.
Jora said over Rs 11 crore have been expended on tourism infrastructure development in the area, adding that an amount of Rs. 7 crore would be incurred this year for creation of more infrastructure in the area to create more facilities for visiting tourists.
The Minister said every area of Kashmir is tourist resort, which provides ample opportunities for employment generation. “Government is encouraging public private partnership under the sector, for which necessary skill trainings, soft loans and incentives are being provided to the intending youth for setting up of their ventures under the sector,” he said, while calling upon the youth to come forward and take benefits of these schemes.
The Minister said that peace is pre-requisite for tourism promotion in the State and added that it is the collective response all to work for permanent peace and normalcy for making Jammu and Kashmir number one destination of the country.
