IIPA, KU debate on Kashmiri language concludes
Srinagar, July 17: A debate on the theme “Kashmiri language is receding its influence in our homes” organized by the Department of Students Welfare (DSW) and the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) concluded here at University of Kashmir
Vice chancellor Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad expressed happiness the way students expressed themselves during the day long debate.
“On the very first week of my joining ,I pledged to learn your language during my stay here. But it really hurts me when I learn from the speakers that Kashmiri language is really receding its influence in your homes” the VC said in an emotional tone. Talking about the influence of the globalization on regional cultures and languages Prof Talat Ahmad said that we must keep our homes intact in terms of language and culture and values before actually we join rest of the world .
On the occasion the VC Central University Kashmir Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi said, “we are not fair to our mother tongue Kashmiri. We should learn lessons from Japan who despite all onslaughts were able to preserve their native language.”
Govt Women’s College MA road Srinagar lifted IIPA cup 2011. Based on the performance of the students in the competition prizes were distributed among them. Asma Zahoor of Government Degree College for Women, MA Road was declared first while as Naila Shah of Women’s college, MA road and M Shahkar achieved second position respectively. Shahid Fayaz of Islamia College of Science and Commerce was declared third in the competition.
