Campaign against substandard, expired edibles to continue: CAPD

Srinagar, July 19: To stop and check the sale and purchase of the expired and substandard edibles, a checking squad of department of CAPD under the chairmanship of Director, CAPD, A W Tak today seized some expired and sub standard commodities at Jawahar Nagar here and accordingly FIR was registered against the erring shopkeeper.
Talking to mediapersons today the Director CAPD said that from 2007 to 2009 expired and substandard eatable items like baby food, biscuits, juice, spices, etc. which were hazardous for the human consumption were being sold from this shop to consumers. He said it was their prime responsibility to see whether the consumers are getting standard eatables on the government fixed prices.
He said that the consumers should verify the batch no. and expiry and manufacturing date when they purchase such items.
However, the Director assured the people that the enforcement agency of the CAPD will continue its vigil on the market and whosoever is found guilty in selling substandard, expired and un-hygienic items would be punished under law.
