RET Forum, pensioners decry police action
Srinagar, July 19: Jammu Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teacher’s Forum and Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Pensioners’ Welfare Association have vehemently condemned the police action against employees participating in the secretariat gherao programme on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Forum said, hundreds of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers also participated in the programme and raised slogans in favour of the employees’ demands. “The Government has been indifferent towards the genuine demands of employees including release of pay arrears, confirmation of daily wagers, inclusion of 5-years of RETs in their service and minimal qualifying service from 28 to 20 years,” the Forum said, adding that it would support all the future programmes of JCC for the redressal of employees’ demands.
Meanwhile, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Pensioners’ Welfare Association president, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Poshpori has also denounced the police action against peacefully protesting state employees.
“It is the government that compels the employees to come on streets by denying them what is their due. The employees are not demanding anything unjustified, but what they are demanding is their legal, democratic and constitutional right. Using indiscriminate force against its own employees and putting them behind bars for pressing the fulfillment of their genuine demands is undemocratic, unconstitutional and dictatorial steps, unacceptable and despicable in every civilized society,” said Poshpori in a statement.
Poshpori demanded that the government should without further delay fulfill the employees and pensioners’ demands especially the payment of sixth pay commission arrears.
