Save heritage

It is heartening to observe that the Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided not to demolish heritage bridge Zaina Kadal in Shahr-e-Khaas. The Chief Minister deserves credit for intervening in the matter and directing the officials of the Roads and Buildings Department not to demolish Zaina Kadal, built in the 15th century by Sultan Zain-ul-Abideen, also known as Budshah. Government should refrain from demolishing historical structures. The CM is right that if an alternate bridge is to be constructed in the area, a separate site should be identified for the same. We must all try to protect the rich heritage of Kashmir and urge the Government to not demolish any of the heritage structures in the state.
