Govt mulls petrol driven tricycles for physically challenged
Efforts On To Improve Their Socio-Economic Condition: Sakina
Srinagar, July 20: State Government is contemplating to introduce petrol driven motorized tricycles for physically challenged persons in Jammu and Kashmir.
This was stated by Minister for Social welfare Sakina Itoo here today while chairing a high level meeting of State level Coordination Committee for physically challenged persons.
The Minister said all possible efforts are being made to improve the socio-economic condition of physically challenged persons. She said that for past four years, 333 physically challenged persons have been appointed in various Government departments. She said over Rs.1.30 lakh have been provided to physically challenged persons under ISSS during last fiscal.
Sakina said that various Financial Institutions including National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation are providing loan facilities to the handicapped persons at low rate of interest for establishing own income generating ventures.
The Minister issued on the spot directions to address the grievances of these persons and asked the concerned Commissioner Secretaries to strictly adhere the decisions taken in the meeting. She asked the administrative Secretaries of Health, Education, CA&PD and Transport departments in mitigating the genuine problems of these persons by taking initiatives for their welfare.
