Let law take its own course: DGP
Arrest of Sopore girl
WASIM KHALID
Srinagar, July 20: Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda, on Wednesday said that Sopore girl Qurat-ul-Ain won’t be released as there was “concrete” evidence about her involvement in militancy related activities.
Responding to the queries of reporters at the sidelines of Investiture function at Zewan
on city outskirts here, Khoda said, “Anybody involved in any crime has to face the law of the land. The law will take its own course. The courts are there to look into the matter. Justice will be done to everybody.”
“The court has given her remand after police produced some concrete evidences of her involvement,” Khoda said.
Asked whether police was contemplating to release her on humanitarian grounds as she was going to get married this week, “I will not go into that entire thing, but the investigating agencies are looking into it. We have produced the evidences before the court.”
The police on Tuesday had alleged that Qurat’s activities were under constant surveillance as she was initially working as an OGW for LeT and courier for providing hawala money to many OGW's at different places in the Valley.
On July 16, Police had detained a would be bride allegedly in connection with the IeD blast outside the police station in north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
Qurat-ul-Ain, 21, of Jalalabad had completed her graduation and was preparing for her marriage this week before she was detained by the police.
Referring to the recently concluded encounter at Lolab in frontier district of Kupwara in which four militants were killed, he said. “They were operating in Kashmir. Their killing is a big set back for Lashkar in Kashmir.”
