SIKH, KASHMIRI YOUTH CAN RETURN ONLY UNDER IRCS SUPERVISION: MAAN
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu, July 20: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Wednesday said Sikh and Kashmiri youth could return to this side of the Line of Control only under the supervision of International Red Cross Society (IRCS).
"Till International Red Cross Society comes to Kashmir and IRCS does not demarcate an area on LoC (for facilitating return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri youth), Sikh and Muslim Kashmiris cannot come back freely," SAD (Amritsar) Chief Simranjeet Singh Maan told reporters here.
Maan was replying to questions about the return and rehabilitation policy for Kashmiri youth from Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK) and any demand for such a policy concerning Sikh militants in the neighbouring country as well.
He said "unless the IRCS takes responsibility for facilitating return, we do not trust the Government of India-neither Abdullahs nor Muftis."
"We also advise Kashmiri militants, who are ready to come back and surrender, not to do so as they have no guarantee here," he said.
Appreciating Indo-Pak talks, Maan said "that is a good thing. But if Kashmiris want plebiscite, it should be done as there is a resolution of UN Security Council."
