NASIR HUSSAIN MALIK
Nowshera (Rajouri) July 21: The police Thursday claimed to have seized a truck transporting 112 bags of BPL ration of the CAPD department to Jammu.
Official sources said based on an input, police laid a special naka outside the township, late last night. The police team intercepted a truck, (JK02N-8038), which was found to be carrying wheat bags.
On the close scrutiny it was found that the wheat bags were actually meant for BPL supply through CAPD Rajouri but was being illegally transported to Jammu for being sold in the market.
Driver of the truck, identified as Ashok Kumar son of Lachi Ram, was arrested and on his disclosure police also arrested a ration dealer, Sat Pal son of Mohan Chand of Rajouri.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Nowshera, G I Sharma, told Greater Kashmir that on counting of the ration bags in the store, 112 bags were found short which clearly means that the ration was being transported by the dealer.
