India, Bangladesh to sign accords on Teesta, Feni

New Delhi: India and Bangladesh are set to sign a framework agreement of a 15-year treaty for sharing the waters of Teesta and Feni rivers during the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Dhaka in September.
 The two countries have been trying to settle the issue for nearly two decades.
 "Yes, we expect an agreement on Teesta and Feni (rivers)," Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal told reporters here.
 Bansal had a meeting with Mashiur Rahman, Advisor to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, here today ahead of the meeting of the Joint River Commission to be held in Dhaka.
 The JRC will meet ahead of the PM's visit to finalise the agreement. While no dates have been fixed for the meeting of the JRC, Bansal is expected to attend it.
 He said he could visit Bangladesh ahead of the PM's visit on September 6 and 7.
