Govt mulls action against fake ration card holders
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu, July 22: In the wake of unearthing of fraudulent ration card holders, the Jammu and Kashmir government today said action would be taken against those individuals who were found involved in such malpractices.
"Action would be taken as per law (against persons involved in the fraud). We are take necessary action (against him). Police and investigation agencies would probe and look into these cases," Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation minister Raman Bhalla told reporters here.
Bhalla was replying to questions about the recovery of fraudulent ration cards from a political party leader and seizure of relief money drawn through these cards.
Jammu and Kashmir Relief Organisation on July 10 had ordered a probe and decided to refer the detection of fraudulent ration cards from Shadi Lal Pandita to the crime branch for investigation.
During raids conducted in various zones by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Vinod Kaul, Pandita was found to possess fraudulent migrant ration cards in different zones.
Pandita had concealed the information while obtaining such ration cards and was availing this facility from more than a decade.
A preliminary probe has established that the family which includes his two brothers have managed to procure eight such ration cards.
