Mehbooba playing politics: Sakina Itoo
Srinagar, July 22: Minister for Social Welfare and MLA Noorabad Sakina Itoo has lambasted Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and condemned her attitude of “playing politics on the crest of a tragic incident.”
Sakina, in a statement issued by National Conference media cell, apparently referring to the alleged rape of a lady by army in her constituency, said rape of a woman is the saddest incident in any civilized society and needs to be unequivocally, strongly condemned and those responsible of committing such a heinous crime should be doled out exemplary punishment. She said some politicians like Mehbooba Mufti while discarding human sensitivities and sensibilities are trying to take political mileage out of this sad incident. She said Mehbooba’s selfish attitude is more condemnable because she herself is a woman and she should be more sensitive and responsible to the emotions of another woman.
Sakina said it is very unfortunate that Mehbooba after meeting the victim went around visiting her party workers to whip up passions in a failed bid to provoke people to agitate and vitiate the atmosphere. She said people of Damhal Hanjipora are anguished, sad and shocked and what they need is a healing balm and not Mehbooba’s provocative political discourse.
Sakina said Mehbooba and her party is frustrated and the return of peace and harmony in the state has unnerved them and in their frustration they are unleashing false malicious propaganda at which they are the best. She further warned Mehbooba to restrain herself and her partymen from indulging in their usual rhetoric for petty political gains and said that the people of Damhal Hanjipora will not allow her (Mehbooba’s) dubious machinations to succeed because they are well aware of PDP’s crocodile tears and melodramatic political antics which are bereft of any emotions or sentiments for the people and are only motivated by the objective of creating chaos, disharmony and destabilization. The Minister said while the government will make all efforts to bring the culprits to book it will not brook any effort to disturb calm and peace.
