HC directs DC Shopian to appear in person

Jammu, July 22: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has asked the Deputy Commissioner Shopian to appear in person before the Court.
 The directions were passed in a petition filed by Romesh Kumar Bhat and others, seeking protection of their property in the district.
 Justice JP Singh directed the registry to issue fresh notice to the Deputy Commissioner Shopian in terms of order dated June 3, 2011 to appear in person. The Court further directed for issuances of notice to the Deputy Commissioner as to show-cause as to why process for non-compliance of the Court directions should not be initiated against him.
 The court vide order dated May 16, 2011 had directed the Deputy Commissioner Shopian to produce the records indicating the steps taken by him to protect the properties of petitioners.
 However, the DC has neither produced the record nor the affidavit, he was asked to file.
