Gul visits Eidgah play fields
Srinagar July 24: Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul has said the government is endeavouring to strengthen sports infrastructure in the state with special emphasis on renovation and creation of additional infrastructure with adequate facilities in new sports stadia for which a whooping amount has been earmarked for this fiscal.
The advisor said this during his day long inspection to various sports stadia and play fields in Eidgah constituency of Srinagar district today.
Gul said the government has allocated an amount of Rs. 50 lakh for up-gradation and development of four playfields in Eidgah constituency aiming to boost sports activities in the area. These playfields are included Gee-Sports Stadium, Dhobi Mohalla Bagwanpora, Mehfooz Cricket Ground, Guzerbal, Madar-e-Meharban Stadium, Palapora and Saki Maidan, Shaheen Mohalla Noorbagh. He said indoor sports facilities will also be provided to the players at Gee-Sports Stadium, Noorbagh.
Gul instructed the authorities of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council to construct Chowkidar rooms, changing rooms and proper fencing of these playfields in shortest possible time keeping in view climatic condition of Valley.
He also called for digging of four tube wells on priority for providing drinking water facilities to the players in these playfields.
Secretary, J&K Sports Council Kiran Watal, senior officers of Youth Services and Sports, besides officers from district administration accompanied the Advisor during the tour.
