Sogami’s 30th death anniversary observed

Sogam (Kupwara), July 24: People from all walks of life paid tributes to former minister late Ghulam Nabi Wani (Sogami) on his 30th death anniversary at his ancestral graveyard here on Saturday.
 Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, who is also grandson of late Sogami, former MLC Nasir Khan, prominent leaders of the district and hundreds of people were present on the occasion. Earlier, Duaya Majlis was conducted in local Jamia Masjid whose construction was started by late leader in 1955. Hundreds of people from various areas of the district participated in the Majlis.
 Later, a public meeting was held in which the contributions of late leader were highlighted.
 Speaking on the occasion, Nasir said to bring Lolab valley on the tourism map of the state was dream of late leader and it was realized with the establishment of Lolab-Bungs-Dringyari Development Authority (LBDDA). He said Kupwara has huge tourism potential and the establishment of LBDDA will tap potential tapped in a better way to bring it at world class tourism destination. He said the authority has already started the work and hoped that within couple of years adequate tourism infrastructure would be developed across the district.
