Treated badly

This refers to the news "Police baton-charge contractual lecturers"(GK July 21). All is not well with the education system in Jammu and Kashmir where teachers are treated so badly. Teachers, the backbone of the education system, are being constantly harassed. Their demands are genuine and they should be given proper hearing by the concerned authorities. The State Government is in deep slumber as it has completely failed to come up to the expectations of contractual teachers. How could we expect proper development of students when teachers are being made victims time and again? This is the main reason for the deterioration of the education system.
