Jammu CU to have a V-C soon: Sibal to Omar
Srinagar, July 25: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal informed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that Jammu Central University will soon have a Vice Chancellor.
An official statement said that the chief minister called up the Union Minister for Human Resource Development this afternoon to impress upon him to take a decision on the issue of the appointment of the Vice Chancellor for the Central University Jammu at the earliest, was assured by Kapil Sibal that the Central University Vice Chancellor will be appointed soon.
The Chief Minister in a telephonic conversation urged the Union Minister to take all possible steps to start the academic session in the Jammu Central University.
The setting up of the Central University being a central subject the Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister that more than 4000 kanals of land has already been allotted for the University campus by the state Government and so the appointment of Vice Chancellor and other academic / administrative staff will kick start the process of setting up of the campus as well, besides the starting of the academic session which of course is of immediate importance.
