Sri Sri
This refers to the recent visit of Sri SrI Ravi Shanker, founder of an NGO called Art of living. I had a chance to attend a class of his. Such sessions as these are being attended by the people of all age groups in the valley and such an NGO is active for past many years in the valley also.
Children of the school, mostly 10th class students, gave their instances of experience they felt after attending these classes. The girls talked about their anger control phenomenon by attending these classes and felt that they are much better persons than they were before attending such classes. One girl talked about her complex of not feeling that she is good looking and she was feeling confident now after attending these classes.
Youth and middle aged people attributed their regaining of health, confidence, leaving smoking and other such things to these yoga classes.
Sitting in a corner I was thinking about the Gen next. Will they be better human beings and better Muslims than us. We the believers of Islam are absolutely unaware of our religion and I do not expect much from the youth if this trend continues.
We need to put forth Islam in a manner that attracts people. The parents need to rethink where we are going. The world is changing fast and we have to keep pace with the technological developments around. It is the duty of religious scholars, political leadership and civil society to lead the youngsters towards a better path.
