Yatri Niyas welcomes SASB decision
AMARNATH YATRA
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, July 25: Baba Amarnath Yatri Niyas—an amalgam of several religious, social and trade organizations--has welcomed the decision of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to constitute a sub-committee headed by Sri Sri Ravi Shanker to decide the duration of annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, the Yatri Niyas president Surinder Mohan Aggarwal congratulated Sri Sri Ravi Shanker for this significant development and also for his nomination as the chairman of the sub-committee, a decision taken in the SASB meeting held on July 22 at Srinagar.
He said that this year the yatra has surpassed all previous records as almost six lakhs pilgrims have performed darshan of ‘ice lingam’ (stalagmite of ice) so far besides exploiting the tourism of the state.
“A lot of more serious efforts from the state government as well as from the SASB is needed to improve the medicare facilities for the yatris as 83 yatris including the porters have lost their precious life so far,” Aggarwal said.
