‘City to get fish market’
Srinagar, July 26: Government is contemplating to setup a fish market in Srinagar for which suitable land is being identified at a proper place, Chief Minister’s Advisor Mubarak Gul Tuesday said while chairing an officers’ meeting.
The meeting was disclosed that an amount of Rs 2.50 crores have been earmarked for setting up of fish market on the pattern of fruit and Sabzi Mandis with cold storage facilities for keeping fresh fish available.
The Advisor instructed the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation to identify the land immediately, enabling the Fisheries department to start work without further delay. He said by establishing fish market long pending demand of Fish Sellers Association will be met besides facilitating fish purchases.
