EWU hold protest, seek fulfillment of demands

Srinagar, July 26: The Employees and Workers Union, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) today held a demonstration at Rajbagh here demanding fulfillment of their long pending demands.
 Over 150 delegates representing the employees of all the monuments of the state participated in the demonstration.
 Addressing the protestors, JKCCTU state president, Muhammad Maqbool and AISGEF National Secretary criticised the central government’s policy of ‘outsourcing ‘and ‘casualization’ of jobs, saying these policies were detrimental to the interests of employees. He expressed full solidarity and support to the employees of Archaeological Survey of India, urging the authorities to give all facilities of temporary status till regularization and ensure in time payment of wages to the workers.
 The protestors adopted a resolution urging the government of India and the authorities of ASI to regularize the services of all casual workers, ensure full temporary status, issue  identity cards and shift back the superintendent office to the Valley from Jammu.
