Hizb Comdr, Subhash Kr, killed in Kishtwar encounter

Kishtwar, July 26: Police and forces on Tuesday claimed that they killed a Hizbul Mujahideen commander in this hilly district on Tuesday.
 The slain militant, Subash Kumar Shan alias Kamran alias Wasif son of Jewan Lal Shan of Razna, Palmar was one of the longest serving and one of the two Hindu militants active in the district.
 Police said that personnel of  Special Operations Group of Police and 11 Rastriya Rifles launched a joint operation at Kukunda Nawapachi of Marwah tehsil, late last night.
 “Contact was established with a militant, who was hiding in the area during the wee hours today”, police said adding, “In the ensuing gun battle the militant was killed”.
 One AK 47 with 2 magazines and 37 rounds and two Chinese hand grenades were recovered from the site of the encounter. Police said that the slain militant was active in the district from past seven years and he was wanted in several cases.
 An official spokesman said that the slain militant joined Hizb in 2001 and was presently Deputy Divisional Commander of the outfit, operating in Palmar-Dachhan and Marwah areas.
