‘Senior citizens can play role in reviving past glory’
Srinagar, July 27: Justice (Retd) B A Kirmani, Central University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Wahid Qureshi, Director Information and PR, Farooq Renzushah and DC Srinagar, Me’raj Ahmad Kakroo today the senior citizens cold play a vital role in reviving the past glory of our civilization and strengthening our basic human principles of life.
Addressing a function organised by Sampat Prakash under the banner of senior citizens and J&K State Pensioners Federation, here, they said the role of elders to stop youngsters from drug addiction was part of every meaningful society in the present day world. They said the advice of elders was of great importance for purifying the society from various social evils.
They said we have promoted and promulgated love, brotherhood and amity in all odds and ends and have equal respect for Hindus and Sikhs in the valley.
They said we have faced many challenges during the past years but despite that we preserved our cultural heritage and mixed society at all costs. They impressed upon all to come forward in a big way to promote and preserve our age-old composite culture and hoped this would be the only key to put our society on road to prosperity and welfare.
They assured that the state administration would extend all possible assistance in mitigating the problems and demands of the pensioners who have been declared senior citizens.
The speakers also unanimously complimented the organizers for providing a platform to all those personalities particularly senior citizens who have contributed a lot for maintaining composite culture of J&K State with dedication, devotion and sincerity.
Chairperson of All India Trade Union, Champa Kumari, Oomarwal Pruhit General Secretary, Hind Mazdoor Association representing 90 lakh workers of India, Harbajan Singh Sindhu, Prof C L Vishan, President, B. Ed. College Association, J&K Scouts, Mohi-ud-Din, veteran former Trade Union leader of State, Nassar Ullah and other senior citizens were also present.
