DDB Baramulla approves Rs 106.51 cr plan
Peerzada for time bound completion of projects
Baramulla, July 27: The District Development Board (DDB) of Baramulla today approved a plan outlay of Rs 106.51 crore for the current fiscal for the district.
The plan was approved at a meeting of the Board, chaired by the Minister for Education, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed of which he is the Chairman also.
Peerzada said the coalition government was committed to provide basic amenities to the people of all the three regions of the state. He asked the officers to complete all ongoing projects on time. He called for achieving the targets in full within stipulated time frame.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer, PHE to formulate a comprehensive DPR for Lift Irrigation Scheme Sopore. He also directed him to ensure availability of drinking water facilities in the district. He directed the forest authorities to make alternate arrangements for their office building within a month which is presently operating in Sopore Hospital.
The Minister said the Centre was providing liberal funding to the state for its development and stressed the need to utilize it in a transparent manner. He assured to look into the demands of the legislators.
Earlier, the DDC Baramulla gave detailed resume of achievements made and expenditure incurred during last fiscal. He said district Baramulla gets benefitted from various flagship programmes and other centrally sponsored schemes.
Bhat said under SSA against the availability of Rs 45.57 crore, the expenditure is of the order of Rs 45.47 crore, 63 primary schools have been opened, 60 primary schools upgraded to the level of middle school, 70 seasonal centres established, 84 EVs engaged for these seasonal centres, 224 ReTs engaged in newly opened and upgraded primary schools, besides 9976 Gujjar and Bakerwal students covered under G &B scholarship, 21855 Pahari speaking students covered under scholarship, 118605 students covered under free text books and 170519 students covered under Mid Day Meal Scheme. Similarly, 120 primary schools buildings and 147 additional class rooms are under construction.
The DDC said in power sector 4 Receiving Stations including Chakloo, Rampur, Duroo Sopore and Hard Ichloo were completed and commissioned in the district. He said under R&B sector two major bridges were completed and thrown open for traffic. Under Agriculture a Mega Kissan Mela was organized in Baramulla in October 2010 in which 15,000 people especially from the farmers community participated. In the said Mela, stalls were set up to display the literature and the latest equipments, seeds etc, he added.
