Fake Pir booked for rape

D A RASHID

Srinagar, July 27: On other days he would promise world to others but today Abdul Rashid Ganai of Nishat here was brought to the court handcuffed for allegedly outraging the chastity of two 15-year old girls.
Police today produced charge-sheet against Ganai, a self-styled Pir, before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar for raping the two girls who had come to him for getting rid of their troubles.
Police said in the charge-sheet that ordeal of one girl started when she visited the ‘Pir’ because she used to experience bouts of convulsions leaving her unconscious. Ganai chanted some words and seeing her become unconscious, raped her. The accused told her that if she disclosed the incident before anyone, he will kill her, the police records reveal.
The victim told the police in her statement that she shared the incident with another girl who also repeated the story of sexual exploitation by the same person.
As per the police records, the duo decided to commit suicide but on their way they met another girl who advised them not to take the extreme step.
The girls later told police how they were exploited. Ganai was immediately arrested on charges of rape and an FIR No. 23 of 2011 under sections 366, 377 of RPC registered against him.
