IGP Railways inspects Jammu-Udhampur-Katra track
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, July 27: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Railways Farooq Ahmed today inspected various police posts along Jammu-Udhampur track to ascertain the security situation.
As per an official spokesman, the IGP conducted on the spot visits and personally monitored the security apparatus along railway track from Jammu through Udhampur upto Katra.
He was accompanied by SSP Railways Jammu Raghubir Singh, SDPO Railways Jammu Dushyant Sharma, SDPO Railways Udhampur RK Kitchloo and SDPO Railways Katra Kulbir Handa.
The IGP inspected the railway police units at Bajalta, Sanger, Manwal, Ramnagar, Udhampur and Katra.
The security review reveals that though the moral of the railway police and IRP 4th Battalion personnel was very high, they had to suffer the inadequacy of accommodation and basic amenities..
Orderly rooms at different places indicated certain problems of welfare faced by Jawans and requirements of equipment like X-Ray Scanners and tents. The IGP announced rewards and certificates for several officers and men on the spot.
The concluding meeting of the 3-days inspection tour was held at the Railway Station Katra, which is going to be operational sometime next year and is expected to be hub of Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and transit for travelling to Srinagar in future.
